Archaeological and natural reserve „Krzemionki Opatowskie” consists of prehistoric exploitation field and adjacent areas to the south. There, karst terrain forms can be found, which were called “kały” by their first explorer Stefan Wincenty Krukowski (1937, p. 196). Surface and excavation research carried out before and after war revealed the existence of Neolithic, Bronze, Roman-influenced and Medieval monuments. Flint and ceramic materials coming from S. Krukowski’s research had descriptive labels with the names of the “kały” given by this researcher. The author of the article identified the objects on the basis of archival photographs, Krzemionki village cadastral plans as well as contour line maps’ analysis. Part of the pits is non-existent any more as they were covered by industrial waste coming from once here existing stockpile situated in a closed quarry. The author claims that instead of weird names like „Kał Cebuli” given by State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw excavation team in 1980s and 1990s, the names of S. W. Krukowski should be accepted as these to be permanently placed on the reserve’s map for their accordance with the spirit of Polish language.
