Abstract: Studies on ancient Egyptian cosmological accounts describing beliefs concerning creation tend to concentrate on the entirety of the universe created or on the effigy of the creator. The fundamentals of the act of creation are rarely studied. The author of this paper intends to focus on the analysis of one of the primordial elements – the elements deriving from the creator, the fundamental principles of the creation present in the creator, as described in the oldest religious texts. The analysis will be based on the Pyramid Texts, and the author aims at a reconstruction of ancient Egyptian beliefs regarding imagery connected with the egg and its principles in Egyptian Old Kingdom religious accounts, that is, at the moment of their consolidation in written form. This paper is one of a series of articles being prepared by the author on the primordial elements in ancient Egyptian religious texts.
