In 2019 Krzemionki Region of Prehistoric Flint Mining was recorded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This was the need for strengthening area protection of the Region in the form of cultural park that was pointed out throughout the process of obtaining the inscription. The idea received suport from local governments, and in 2021 the first edition of docummentation for creating such a park along with the scheme for its protection’s plan were compiled. Genuinely commisioned by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, the documment got amended in 2021–2022, when re-commissioned by the Historical and Archaeological Museum in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. According to preliminary principles, the park was supposed to embrace the area of ca. 13,040 ha, yet after consultations held as well as additional analyses completed, it was reduced to 8,540 ha and included the middle part of Bodzechów commune, the northern part of Ćmielów commune and the eastern one of Ożarów commune. Among objectives of creating the park, bolstering the effectiveness of World Heritage Site’s protection as well as working
out the frames for protection, research and promotion’s management’s coordination were pointed out. Among others, the goals were also to determine alike frames regarding opening particular components of the Site to the public, taking advantage of the above mentioned resources to increase the tourist and recreation attractiveness of the communes within which the creation of the Park is prearranged, as well as improving the spatial order along with landscape advantages by means of settling the directions and rules of both adapting and using the Park’s area. Taking into account the aims above, a scheme for its protection’s plan was drawn up, including such aspects like functional and spatial structure of the Park as well as guidelines for the means of protection of the cultural resources, the natural resources and the landscape’s shaping. Besides, the plan encompassed decisions referring to bans and restrictions, guidelines for the local area development plans, economic activation, the Park’s management or making the park available for education, tourism and recreation.
