The bioarchaeological examination of a collective grave from the Trzciniec Culture at site 12 in Kazimierza
Wielka reveals details of burial practices performed by the communities of the Middle Bronze Age. Analysis of skeletal remains from feature 130, following standard methodologies (White, Folkens 2005), allowed for the identification of seven individuals, including three adults (male, female, and one indeterminate), three juveniles (iuvenis), and one child (infans II). The remains, which exhibited secondary
deposition were arranged into three clusters (A, B, and D), each containing fragments from multiple individuals. Cluster A included remains likely from two adults, evidenced by varying skeletal robustness. Cluster B held remains from three individuals, notably a female aged 40–50 with signs of severe dental attrition. Cluster D contained mixed remains of adults and younger individuals, aged 14–16 years and 10–12 years. Strontium isotope analysis (87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.710441±0.000008) suggests a local origin for the female aged 40–50 years interred, aligning with the regional environmental isotope range.
