W przyjemnością informujemy, że w 2019 r., wraz z tomem 12, Wydawnictwo Profil-Archeo podjęło współpracę z Instytutem Archeologii UJ oraz Polską Akademią Umiejętności jako wydawca  wykonawczy czasopisma Contributions in New World Archaeology (dawn. Polish Contributions in New World Archaeology). Redaktorami czasopisma są: prof. dr hab. Janusz K. Kozłowski, dr hab. Jarosław Źrałka, prof. UJ, dr Radosław Palonka oraz dr Michał Wasilewski.
Teksty zgromadzone w tomie 12 koncentrują się głównie wokół problematyki cywilizacji Majów. Obszerny artykuł Christophe Helmke i kol. (The Lay of the Land: A Political Geography of an Ancient Maya Kingdom in West-Central Belize) pokazuje praktyczne zastosowanie współczesnych narzędzi informacji geograficznej (LiDAR, GIS) w rekonstrukcji antycznych struktur osadniczych i szlakó komunikacyjnych oraz sposobów formowania granic politycznych na podstawie otoczenia stanowiska Baking Pot w dolinie rzeki Belize. Ciekawy wyniki przyniosła próba odtworzenia środków i tempa komunikacji pomiędzy centrami administracyjnymi. W kręgu tych samych zagadnień, choć przy zastosowaniu zupełnie innych źródeł i metod, pozostaje drugi tekst autorstwa Ch. Helmke i kol. (The Origins and Development of the Cartographic Tradition in the Central Mexican Highlands). Artykuł Michała Gilewskiego (The Role of Maize and the Theoretical Approaches of Archaeology to the Food Resources in the Ancient Maya Culture) to krytyczny przegląd literatury poświęconej gospodarce i kulturze Majów, pokazujący diametralnie odmienne sposoby traktowania kukurydzy w kulturze Majów, w zależności od kierujących danym studium paradygmatów badawczych. Jedyne w tomie hiszpańskojęzyczne studium, autorstwa Silviny Vigliani (La “Personeidad” de la Caguama: Arte Rupestre, Paisaje y Agencia en la Costa Central de Sonora, México) to próba emicznego spojrzenia na szczególny aspekt antropo-/zoomorficznej sztuki naskalnej w rejonie Sonora w Meksyku. Analiza wyobrażeń tzw. caguama, tj. żółwi morskich przeprowadzona została z użyciem takich narzędzi analitycznych jak archeologia krajobrazu czy koncepcja agency. Artykuł Magdaleny Lewandowskiej (Athapaskan Migration to the North American Southwest) to natomiast kompleksowe i aktualne podsumowanie interdyscyplinarnych badań i dyskusji związanych z koncepcją migracji przodków Apaczy i Indian Navajo na północnoamerykańskim Południowym-Zachodzie.

We are proud to announce that in 2019, from volume 12 on, the Profil-Archeo Publishing House started cooperation with the Institute of Archeology of the Jagiellonian University and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in the executive editing of the journal Contributions in New World Archeology (formerly Polish Contributions in New World Archeology). The editors of the journal are: prof. dr hab. Janusz K. Kozłowski, dr hab. Jarosław Źrałka, prof. UJ, Dr. Radosław Palonka and Dr. Michał Wasilewski.
The texts collected in volume 12 focus mainly on the Mayan civilization. An extensive article by Christophe Helmke et al. (The Lay of the Land: A Political Geography of an Ancient Maya Kingdom in West-Central Belize) shows the practical application of contemporary geographic information tools (LiDAR, GIS) in the reconstruction of ancient settlement structures and communication routes, as well as forming political boundaries, based on the results of the long-lasting prospection of the Baking Pot site in the Belize River Valley. Interesting results were brought by the attempt to reconstruct the means and pace of communication between administrative centers. Within the scope of the same issues, although using completely different sources and methods, is the second text by Ch. Helmke et al. (The Origins and Development of the Cartographic Tradition in the Central Mexican Highlands). The article by Michał Gilewski (The Role of Maize and the Theoretical Approaches of Archeology to the Food Resources in the Ancient Maya Culture) is a critical review of the literature devoted to the Maya economy and culture, showing diametrically different ways of treating maize, depending on the study research paradigms. The only Spanish-language study in the volume by Silvina Vigliani (La „Personeidad” de la Caguama: Arte Rupestre, Paisaje y Agencia en la Costa Central de Sonora, México) is an attempt at an emic look at the special aspect of anthropo-/zoomorphic rock art in the region of Sonora in Mexico. Analysis of the ideograms of the so-called caguama, i.e. sea turtles, was conducted with the use of analytical tools such as landscape archeology or the concept of agency. The article by Magdalena Lewandowska (Athapaskan Migration to the North American Southwest) is a comprehensive and up-to-date summary of interdisciplinary research and discussions related to the concept of migration of Apache and Navajo ancestors in the North American Southwest.
