Abstract: Relief-Decorated resp. Ceremonial Palettes are till today usually connected with temple rituals. It is of course true, that only for a minority of this object category a clearly defined archaeological context exists, the most prominent of which being the temple district of Hierakonpolis.
At the same time, it is ignored that some of these objects definitely derive from specific tombs or at least from cemeteries. Taking this diversity of places of final deposition into consideration, the interpretations of their use is not anymore as straightforward as it used to be. In this respect, it is of interest that also in the cemetery of Turah a fragment of a Relief-Decorated Palette was encountered, thus strengthening the diversity of findspots.
