Procedura recenzji

English version at the bottom of the page

Ten sam model stosujemy w odniesieniu do niektórych monografii.

All scientific publications published by the Profil-Archeo Publishing House are subjected to the peer review procedure prior to publication, regardless of the financing path adopted (even in the case of financing the publication by the author/author’s home institution or from other sources provided by the author/authors). We apply in this regard to the procedures developed by COPE.

The reviewers we select are recruited from independent academic staff of universities and scientific institutes and are always selected according to the specialization to which the publication relates.

The model of peer review we use depends largely on the nature of the publication. Journals that we issue on behalf of the institution (e.g. Recherches Archéologiques Nouvelle Serie) have their own procedures and peer review models (standard is the double-blind peer review model). We use the same model for some monographs.

In most monographs, including those published as part of our series, we use the single-blind peer review model (i.e. the author does not know who the reviewers are, but the reviewers know the identity of the authors). In the case of some monographs, whose edition is financed as part of research projects (and the costs of reviews are covered by these grants), the open peer review model is necessarily adopted, while we strive to ensure that knowledge about the identity of the reviewer is limited only to the person of the project manager (who is usually also the volume editor). Adopted review models therefore result from formal requirements in research projects, but partly also from the specifics of research and studies of archaeological sources. For the reviewer, the fact that the authors of the publications were at the same time the authors of field research/excavations and/or the authors of archaeological documentation should be important (the issue of intersubjectivity of documentation).

It is the responsibility of the volume editors, series editor and editorial team of the publisher to ensure that the comments of the reviewers are taken into account as far as possible by the authors, or – if this is impossible – to address these issues in the final version of the publication.
